"It is the policy of the Commonwealth to preserve
the primary right and obligation of the parent or parents, or person
or persons in loco parentis to a child, to choose the education and
training for such child.” -
Section 1327 of the Pennsylvania School Code
Finally, Pennsylvania families are beginning to have a
choice in their children’s education.
Dollars Follow Scholars is an all volunteer
organization of concerned parents, educators, and
legislators dedicated to further improving the education
for all Pennsylvanians.
In May 2001, Pennsylvania became the first state to
provide an educational tax credit aimed specifically at
our business community. The Educational Improvement Tax
Credit (EITC) provides companies with a 75% tax credit
for donations to a non-profit scholarship or educational
improvement organization. The tax credit increases to
90% if the company commits to making the same donations
for two consecutive years. A business paying taxes in
Pennsylvania can receive up to $200,000 in tax credits
annually.
Our goal is to raise the Educational Improvement Tax
Credit (EITC) to from $200K to $500K, increase awareness
for parents, businesses, legislators, and charter
schools, as well as further developing participation
within the business community.
Please review our site and get involved today as our
children cannot wait. |

Parents |
Parents in Pennsylvania are faced with failing schools,
record number of school strikes, and limited choice for schools
while at the same time paying record-high and ever increasing
school taxes.
Former governor Tom Ridge signed legislation in 2001 to make
Pennsylvania the first state to provide an incentive for our
business community to more actively participate in your child’s
education. |

Businesses |
The old adage ‘Government is not the solution. Government is
the problem’ rings very true with our failing school system.
For years Pennsylvanian’s have advocated empowering families and
the business community to become more involved in the
educational process.
The passing of the EITC has already enabled nearly 2,000
businesses to pledge over $90 million dollars to the children of
Pennsylvania.

Legislators |
The only way for our education system to recover from failing
school boards, mass teacher strikes, and immeasurable programs is to
empower parents with school choice.
Providing a choice, however, requires strong commitment by our state
legislators to allow parents, business, and schools to work
together.
We are seeking bi-partisan leaders in our General Assembly who are
willing to provide educational opportunities and expanding the
generosity of Pennsylvania’s business community. |
